Riverwind’s website advertises 2,700 slot machines on their gaming floor. That’s a big collection for a non-Vegas casino, among the biggest in the state.

I wrote this post as a companion to the best slot machines at Winstar post. Riverwind isn’t the biggest or the best-known of Oklahoma’s casinos. But it’s among the three best-reviewed Oklahoma gambling spots. And it has a big enough slots library to keep me and other slots fans interested.

Since then, I’ve written multiple posts about slot machines in Oklahoma, including the Hard Rock in Tulsa. I’ve also written posts about slot machines in other locations, like this post about Mount Airy Resort and Casino.

Based on my own playing experience, and reviews from other Oklahoma slots fans, these are the 6 best slot machines you can play at Riverwind Casino:

1. Flat top slot machines are the best slots to play at Riverwind.
2. VGT’s red screen slots are the most popular slots to play at Riverwind.
3. Super Jackpot Party is a popular and affordable slot game with a $25,000 jackpot.
4. Slots players love Riverwind’s Goldfinger slot for its James Bond theme.
5. Michael Jackson is another licensed slot that’s popular at Riverwind.

Also, I always try to warn gamblers away from the many gas station slot machines near Riverwind or any other area like Tulsa, which has a perfectly legitimate slot machine casino at River Wind.

Flat Top Slot Machines Are the Best Slots to Play at Riverwind

In Oklahoma, slots are referred to as either flat top or progressive games. (Actually, that’s true everywhere). Flat top machines have fixed jackpots. But progressive slots offer top prizes that grow over time.

Flat top slots offer prizes in different coin amounts which you can study and know before you begin to play. Progressive slot’s biggest payouts grow and change as players interact with the game.

In Oklahoma, most flat top machine jackpots are in the 1,000-3,000-coin range, though with bonuses and other features, your actual cash prize may be higher. Also, some flat top slots in the state have higher fixed jackpots than that range. They aren’t the norm, though.

Why are flat top machines the best at Riverwind?

They offer players the best odds. Progressive games cost more for gamblers to play, and as that progressive prize inches ever upward, your odds of winning it shrink.

Gamblers who like to chase progressive top prizes might disagree with me. And that’s fine. If you’re the type of player who likes to go for huge payouts and you don’t mind giving the house a little more advantage against you in exchange for it, then progressive games are fine.

VGT’s Red Screen Slots Are the Most Popular Riverwind Slot Games

VGT is a major provider of gambling technology in markets like Oklahoma and Mississippi. Riverwind Casino is home to hundreds of VGT games, which offer a special feature that help players identify them as among the best on the floor.

So-called red screen VGT slots are games that offer a randomly triggered free spins bonus round. Players on these red screen VGT slots at Riverwind have a shot at triggering 1 to 5 free spins (all of which are winners) after every winning spin.

I trigger one or two free winning spins about once every five wins on VGT red screen machines. It doesn’t necessarily make my sessions more profitable. But it does make them more fun. It also adds a regular feature to the game that other VGT titles don’t have.

The games are easy to recognize. Watch people playing slots and look for the bright red screens that indicate a player has just triggered some free spins. Boom, that’s a red screen VGT slot.

Because of the additional free spins bonus, many slots players think that red screen VGT slots are the best games at Riverwind.

Super Jackpot Party Is a Popular and Affordable Slot Game with a $25,000 Jackpot

Super Jackpot Party has a free spin round, a scatter symbol, and random win multipliers, so it’s a full-featured slot game available to players with a wide variety of budgets.

I call Super Jackpot party affordable because Riverwind hosts several versions with a max bet of $1 per spin. That makes this WMS Gaming slot among the cheapest max bets on the floor at Riverwind. And though the top payout at the $0.01 per credit bet rate is just $100, it’s an achievable goal. And it lets bettors play for a longer amount of time on their bankroll.

The game’s top payout overall – $25,000 – only requires a bet of $2.50 per spin. That’s within the range of a lot of players, even if they limit their playing time in exchange for the higher per-spin cost.

Slots Players Love Riverwind’s Goldfinger Slot Machine for Its James Bond Theme

Since this is a progressive game, it’s not among the best in terms of odds. It is popular, though. This tells me that enough people are smitten with the theme to give a progressive game a shot.

These machines are always covered up when I visit Riverwind.

Goldfinger is a three reel and nine pay line classic-style machine with a 400-credit max bet. At Riverwind, the only credit size is $0.01, so you’re looking at $4 per spin. On my last visit, the major progressive was worth $2.1 million, with the mini progressive at $15, the minor at $50, and the major at $700 or so, I can’t quite remember. As usual, the only really valuable progressive jackpot is the ever-growing grand prize, but the odds against winning it are long.

Still, the music is great. And though the symbols and lack of a video screen leave something to be desired, it’s like a combination of old-school Vegas and everyone’s favorite secret agent.

Michael Jackson Legend Is Another Licensed Slot Game that’s Popular at Riverwind

WMS’ Michael Jackson Legend is an attention-grabber. It’s super tall, with a big spinning wheel at the top, and lots of licensed audio and video clips. This is one of the more popular slots at Riverwind just because of the awesome audio and video effects and the attention-grabbing bonus wheel.

Michael Jackson Legend is a 3 reel and ten pay line slot with a ten-credit max bet, and a wide range of coin sizes, from $0.25 up to $1 each. The game’s feature bonus round, the bonus wheel, is triggered by landing three Wheel symbols on any active line. Players then choose a color, and if the wheel lands on the color the player picked, a jackpot is rewarded.

Michael Jackson Legend offers three progressive top prizes and a wild multiplier feature that can boost any winnings up to 10x. The game’s highest fixed payout is 750 credits, which can be multiplied to a win of up to 7,500 credits. At $1 per credit, that’s a $7,500 jackpot, which is big for Oklahoma slots play.

Dragon Link IS Riverwind Casino’s Most Popular Progressive Slot

Aristocrat’s Dragon Link series are the progressive slots at Riverwind that get the most player attention. This has to do with the bright colorful design and loud audio effects in the game.

The game itself is simple — 5 reels and 3 rows with up to 50 pay lines. The theme is Japanese but uses a light touch. Mostly the theme comes through in the game’s symbols, colors, and audio effects.

Besides the ever-increasing progressive payouts and the bright colors and such, the big draw with this game is the Hold and Spin feature, commonly found on Aristocrat slots. If six or more coin symbols appear anywhere on the screen, the feature is triggered. You’ll get between 1 and 10 free spins, and these can be retriggered indefinitely. Players who cover the entire screen with coins win the top progressive prize.

Lightning Link style games like Dragon Link are popular no matter where you play, but I’ve always found that players at Riverwind seem drawn to Dragon Link and its sister games. This series is well-positioned next to the largest area of slot machines and near the customer service area.

Conclusion

What are the best slot machines to play at Riverwind Casino?

When you visit, it’s up to you to try different machines and decide which is the best.

The slots players I know who enjoy playing at Riverwind are focused on red screen slots, as well as familiar licensed titles like Michael Jackson and Bond Experience.
