Gambling Directory (Free Online Information Sites)

This gambling directory is a hopelessly old-school list of gambling websites I admire. When I got started in this business, it was common for sites to have links pages.

But the spammers hammered that strategy to death. The idea was to get a bunch of sites crosslinking to and from each other so they could all rank high in the search engines.

That didn’t work for long.

Anyway, I only list websites here that I’ve visited repeatedly and use as reference material for when I’m thinking about or writing about gambling. I’m not accepting requests to be reviewed for inclusion on this page because only one out of every thousand sites qualify anyway.

I also don’t accept guest posts anymore. I tried with one of my other sites for a while, but I literally never got a post that was well-written enough to publish. And I was ranking first in Google for a phrase like “gambling guest posts” or something.

I’m lucky enough to know some of the other site owners on this list personally.

I guess I’m just old-fashioned. I like having a listing of my favorite information sites here. Also, I prefer a gambling directory listing sites run by identifiable individuals.

Gambling Directory Site Listings

Beat the Fish – Far and away the best poker guide on the internet. I’ve known Josh since he launched the site. And he’s gotten better than I am at running gambling websites than I’ll ever be. I’m proud to recommend his site.

Easy Vegas – You’ll see me referring to Michael Bluejay’s website about Las Vegas repeatedly throughout the posts in this site. As far as I’m concerned, he’s the best gambling writer on the internet. (I’m the second best, though.)

Gambipedia – This is a nice, clean site with clear and succinct reviews of slot machine games and online casinos.

Gambling Made Easy – This is an ambitious site that’s trying to cover all aspects of gambling, from casinos to poker to sports betting. Most of the information here is aimed at beginners.

Gamboool – Steve Beauregard loves writing about and visiting casinos. He writes about the subject at Gamboool, which is the kind of site I aspire to create, too. It’s one of the only gambling sites I’m comfortable recommending.

Roulette Star – Greg has written the most detailed, most clearly-explained, and comprehensive guide to roulette anywhere on the internet. He’s justifiably proud of the site. If you like roulette and want to know more about it, you should check it out.

Slots Guy – This is one of my favorite guides to slot machines online. The site has recently started a blog and been updating content like crazy — check out the page about free spins for an example of the new content there. The stuff about individual states is better than you’ll find anywhere else, too — check out the post about the loosest slots in California.

Sports Betting Headquarters – I don’t cover sports betting much here on this site. I have a post about the Martingale for sports bettors and another post about betting on the first 5 innings in baseball. But I don’t have anything like the detailed coverage at this admittedly new sports betting info site.

Steve Badger – This man taught me more about SEO than anyone. I owe a huge portion of whatever success I’ve had in the gambling industry to his mentorship. He also publishes the best pages about Omaha poker strategy on the internet, period.

The Poker Bank – This is my favorite Texas holdem strategy site. It’s been online since 2007, and unlike most of the stuff you’ll find in Bing and Google, it’s not owned and operated by some big conglomerate. It’s a website operated by a real person, Greg, who knows his stuff. I’m proud to list it here.

vpFREE2 – I don’t know who runs this site, but if you’re serious about video poker, it’s indispensable. This is an exception to most of the sites listed here, as I prefer to list sites which are operated by specific individuals.

Wizard of Vegas – When I’m looking for details about which games are available under what conditions in Vegas casinos, I look to this site. Michael Shackleford and “the mysterious JB” run this site.
