I’ve spent a good amount of time on the slots at Choctaw mostly because it’s one of the biggest casinos that’s within a couple hours’ drive of where I live.

Choctaw has something like 4,700 slots and 100 table games. Choctaw Casino is smaller than the Winstar, which is about an hour away in Thackerville. Then again, Winstar is one of the biggest casinos in the world, so that’s not a very fair comparison. 4,700 slots is plenty of variety to have whatever kind of slots experience you want to have.

Speaking of Winstar, check out my review of the best slots at Winstar for an idea of what they have to offer. You might also be interested in my review of the best slots at Hard Rock Tulsa.

I wrote this post to help people identify the best slot machines to play at Choctaw. My opinions are based on my own experiences and those of the slots player I know who like playing at Choctaw Casino.

• Flat Top Games are the Best Slots to Play at Choctaw
• VGT’s Red Screen Games are the Most Fun Slots to Play at Choctaw
• Lucky Ducky is the Most Popular Choctaw Flat Top Slot
• Silver Dollar Shootout is the Best Red Screen Choctaw Slot
• Da Vinci Diamonds is the best high limit slot at Choctaw

Avoid the gas station slot machines in the area, because those are not the best slot machines to play near Choctaw at all. River Spirit Casino also has a post devoted to it.

Flat Top Games are the Best Slots to Play at Choctaw

Oklahoma slots known as flat tops are the best games to play overall at Choctaw.

These games have a fixed jackpot, with no progressive top prize that grows over time as players wager into it. Flat top games in Oklahoma tend to pay out something like 1000, 2000, or 3000 coins. The actual payout for a flat top slot at Choctaw will vary, so check the machine’s rules and paytable before committing to play it.

Why are flat tops better than progressive slots? Players are far more likely to hit a worthwhile jackpot playing flat tops. That’s because the higher a game’s top prize, the longer the odds of hitting it. A flat top machine with a jackpot giving odds of 1 in 30,000 is a lot more likely than a progressive game with odds of 1 in 50 million.

Players tend to find games that reward them more frequently more enjoyable.

Obviously, the best slots overall at Choctaw are the flat top slots.

VGT’s Red Screen Games are the Most Fun Slots to Play at Choctaw

I think there’s a difference between slots being “the best” and slots being “the most fun.”

VGT’s slot machines dominate the Oklahoma casino industry. You’ll find tons of them in the state’s casinos.

Players in Oklahoma know to look for what are known as “VGT red screen slot machines,” games that have a special red screen announcing a popular re-spin feature. The red screen is the signal that you’ve triggered a re-spin bonus.

Players love red screen slots because the re-spin feature seems to trigger really frequently. This is obvious from reading reviews and forum posts about Oklahoma slots. People will even share details about where they found different red screen games.

Here’s an example YouTube showing off a red screen VGT slot. Watch YouTube user NoTrippinSlots play Mr. Moneybags for an idea of how frequent this red screen feature triggers.

Some players on YouTube estimate the red screens appear about 1 in every 5 winning spins. Each red screen bonus will give you 1-5 extra winning spins. If you see 25 red screen bonuses every hour that you play, you’re looking at between 25 and 125 winning re-spins an hour.

I’m not suggesting that you’ll necessarily win more often when you play VGT red screen slots. I think the appeal of the games lies in anticipating the red screen re-spins after winning rounds.

Lucky Ducky is the Most Popular Choctaw Flat Top Slot

Lucky Ducky is a class II Bingo-style slot machine game produced by VGT. It’s among the most popular such games and is a common sight in tribal casinos (like Mystic Lake and others) all over the United States, especially in the south.

Lucky Ducky is a mechanical slot, with 3 reels and a single pay line.

Lucky Ducky is available in the following denominations: $0.25, $1.00, $2.00, $3.00, and $5.00.

Your biggest payout is 10,000 credits, or somewhere between $2,500 and $50,000 depending on the size of your bet.

This is one of those famous VGT red screen game with re-spins on about every 5th winning results, so it’s always popular in Oklahoma casinos.

Choctaw’s Lucky Ducky also include the Bonus Blast package, meaning the Lucky Ducky you play at Choctaw is likely to have four additional bonus chances besides the standard red screen. There are seven bonus games possible, with each machine offering a random assortment of four of them. They range from pick’em games with instant cash prizes to a bonus wheel type game, all along the rubber ducky theme.

Because of the red screen and additional bonuses available, Lucky Ducky is by far my favorite game at Choctaw Casino, and it’s a popular game among other players, too. I’ve had a hard time finding an open game in the past.

Silver Dollar Shootout is the Best Red Screen Choctaw Slot

Silver Dollar Shootout is another red screen bonus slot available at Choctaw Casino Durant. And, Silver Dollar is different from Lucky Ducky – it has up to 20 activated pay lines and uses a 5-reel video slot style setup that looks and feels more modern than other classic VGT titles.

Choctaw Casino’s Silver Dollar Shootout slots are available in the following denominations: $0.01, $0.02, $0.05, $0.10, and $0.25, with a maximum bet size of 200 credits. That gives players a betting range of between $0.01 and $50 per spin. The game’s top payout is 50,000 credits, representing a payout range of between $500 and $12,500.

Four bonus games beyond the standard red screen re-spins are available on every machine. All of these bonuses are random. Here’s a quick breakdown of each of them:

The Silver Dollar Shootout, in which you pick ten coins to amass cash prizes.
The Gold River Canyon, in which players win prizes as they find a safe way home for the miner Greenback Jack.
Blow’d Up Good, a side game in which the player hopes to land dynamite symbols on certain reels in exchange for prizes.
Newton the Nudger, not so much a bonus as a wild symbol, a character that shows up and bumps losing spins into winning ones.

Da Vinci Diamonds is the Best High Limit Slot at Choctaw

Da Vinci Diamonds is a 5-reel slot with 20 pay lines. You can find Da Vinci Diamonds on the main casino floor accepting bets between $0.02 and $0.05 per credit. That’s a $0.40-$1 max bet, making it an affordable game for people like me who don’t like to bet too much per spin.

But Choctaw’s high limit section has a version of Da Vinci Diamonds that accepts bets between $0.40 and $1 per credit. My last two visits to Choctaw, I couldn’t get an open seat on the high limit version.

I like the game because of the visuals – even the symbols are little works of art.

I know other players who play the high limit Da Vinci Diamonds at Choctaw Durant because of the cascading reels feature, which has the potential to create multiple winning combinations on a single spin.

Da Vinci Diamonds is bright, beautiful, and the cascading reels attract a lot of attention. I think the low limit version is fine, but for bettors interested in betting more than $1 per spin, the base game may not hold your attention very long. Go check out the high limit section, where you’ll usually find at least two Da Vinci Diamonds set up for larger per-spin bets.

Conclusion

I like supporting Choctaw Casino because of the literally thousands of jobs and billions of dollars it brings to the Choctaw community. But I don’t go to do some kind of charity work, I go to have fun.

I like Choctaw because they have a ton of different slots, and I can be on the gaming floor in less time than it takes to watch a baseball game.

In my opinion, the best slot machines to play at Choctaw are the flat top games, particularly any VGT red screen slots the casino offers. These games are the most fun and they’ll cost you the least amount of money.

But really the best slot machines at Choctaw Casino are the ones that you enjoy playing the most. You shouldn’t spend too much time stressing about theoretical return percentages or whether or not to chase a progressive jackpot. Instead, figure out how much you can afford to bet, find a game you’ll like playing, and enjoy yourself.
